Janet Street-Porter became Founding Patron of Architecture Week. Talking about the Love Architecture Poll and fly-posting campaign, "I am delighted to be Patron of Architecture Week. There are opportunities to make your views known to politicians and other people who have an influence on your built environment, where you live, work, study and spend your free time."
The press event was held at the Millennium Dome and the launch on-site at Tate Modern.

There were bookshop talks at Waterstone's London bookshops and a Thames and Hudson competition.
Disability access information was introduced in all printed event information.
A number of events showcased Lottery buildings including: The Branson Coates Extension at the Geffrye Museum and David Chipperfield at the River and Rowing Museum.
BBC Radio 3 'Nightwaves' invited leading architects to nominate their choice of the most innovative, intriguing or influential building of the century.
